Summer Days

Laying on my back in the afternoon sun
Just counting the clouds all day, so far there aint been one
Cuz if you keep the clouds where they belong
They never block the sun
And they don’t cast no shadows on anyone

Take me back to summer days when the sky hangs softly blue
The autumn leaves have yet to fall and I’ve got just enough nothing to do

Look outside your window, the first snow is on the ground
But stay inside and close your eyes, aint nothing coming down
Cuz when the snow lays thick and the wind blows cold
It’s only in your mind
Drift with me back to another time

I’ll take you back to summer days when the sky hangs softly blue
The autumn leaves have yet to fall and I’ve got just enough nothing to do

I watch the sunlight fading at the end of another day
My pillow calls as evening falls and the time just slips away
But don’t you know I’ll be smiling when I turn out the light
Cuz the stars only come out at night

Take me back to summer days when the sky hangs softly blue
The autumn leaves have yet to fall and I’ve got just enough nothing to do
But for now I just wanna be
Laying on my back in the afternoon sun
Just counting the clouds all day I know I wont see none
